A Little About Michelle Varghese
Hey there! My name is Michelle, and after 2020 I quit my job to move back to San Francisco, than a small desert town in the literal middle of nowhere and now to a beautiful midsize city on the East Coast.
Small town was quite an adventure and it gave me the opportunity to focus on my creative projects without any distractions. Truly, there was nothing going on in that town. I started writing here on Substack and produced a podcast for four years with my sister called Build A Wealthy Spirit.
Writing and podcasting opened me up to a WORLD of opportunities including mentorships with people I admired from a far, work opportunities, cool clients, guesting on different podcasts, speaking gigs, free stuff, launching projects with online friends and the best thing is the online community I’ve built.
I’m a writing coach now for Substack writers and love partnering with people who are passionate about improving their writing and unlocking their own moonshot opportunities.
Engage with my work in these places:
Essays: my thoughts on living a meaningful life, critiques of social media, humor pieces on dating and how I left the corporate world for a two year sabbatical and started my journey as a creator
Build A Wealthy Spirit Podcast (Apple, Spotify, YouTube): 210 episodes where Sammie and I made personal finance and self development educational and fun
Twitter: my feelings on the writing, growth and an opportunity to connect with others
If you’re writing on Substack, check out my writing coaching which is for online writers looking to unlock new opportunities with their essays
My first creative project started four years ago with the Build A Wealthy Spirit podcast. My sister and I built a community of people who like us, felt they had checked all the boxes on the path to success (school, job, money) and then realized they still felt empty after “making it.” We shared our journey to financial independence and explored how money can be a tool for building a purposeful life.
In my spare time, I consume a lot of information including podcasts, self help audiobooks, articles and fiction books. I traveled a lot in the past decade and have had the opportunity to visit Europe, Africa and Asia.
In my past life, my career was in software sales. As proof, my closet is still filled to the brim with tech swag. At the end of 2020, I left that world behind to pursue my creative projects and so far I’ve been happy with the decision. I still dabble in sales and enjoy exploring how those ideas apply to the creator world.
I enjoy writing here and hearing from my community so please feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email when something resonates!

"my days of getting absorbed in one book on the library floor has been replaced with scrolling content from my toilet" 😂
Great story, I can relate to that feeling of ‘checking all the boxes’ and still wondering what it was all for. Leaving the traditional path to explore something more meaningful really hits home for me.
