Loved the story, Michelle. Lots of interesting and well laid out details on top of what you already told us on our weekly calls. The underlying message, though, is powerful, and one that is dear to me: always look for the silver lining. The secret of life (but don't tell anyone lol). :)
I love this bc I’d be doubting my alignment if so many things went “wrong” and wondering if persistence is key or if life is gently trying to get me to shift gears. Ah! Also I’m looking forward to finding out the end to this story.
Sorry you had to go through all that. But glad to hear you made it through. And on the bright side, another way to look at this - you got a good Substack article out of it all. The worst experiences can sometimes make for the best stories.
OoOoOo man, I would’ve totally been defeated from all of that too, and I’m glad that you’re able to see the bright side through it all! I’m soooo excited you guys are on the east coast now! I want to come visit =)
Amazing what a little perspective, at just the right time, can do when you're headed into that dark place. Thanks for sharing Michelle, and congrats on scoring a place you're excited about.
I hope that your move has been settling in smoothly! It's funny how life throws us curveballs when we're in the midst of a big change. Everything seems to happen all at once or not at all.
Michelle - I loved this! Sorry for all the misfortune. Times like that also make me laugh because when there's so much stacked against you, you can't help but laugh because it just seems so unfair/unreal.
Love that it turned into gratitude for you and you have such a supportive family and sister around you too! It can be really hard to avoid falling into pessimism, especially when everything is going wrong, it's so satisfying to see yall pull out of that nose dive (no pun intented re: the plane)!
Everything always has a way of working out, excited to see what's next! As an NC boy myself (and family still there), always good to see someone I know around the Carolinas.
P.S. Isn't it funny that you posted this on Friday the 13th?
Surprises
I will be repeating “We simply need a new plan" to myself quietly forever.

Sorry to hear about the unpleasant surprises of the move :(. But rooting for you to land softly on solid ground :)

We finally get to hear about your move...though not the best details! But I'm really glad that it all turned out well!
It’s been incredible to watch your storytelling and writing evolve, Michelle. What a story!
Loved this :)

Sometimes you just have to get past the gargoyles at the gate. : ) Good job!
I love how you brought us through your highs and lows - good luck for the rest of your move!
Loved this! Nothing like the hug of a sister to make things right again!
